Simba Hybrid pillow composition
The Simba Hybrid Pillow with Stratos cooling technology offers a unique design for enhanced sleep.
It combines temperature regulation with adjustable memory foam nanocubes. 👾

These features aim to maximise your sleeping comfort.
The Simba pillow is made of three key layers:
- Top Aerelle layer: Mineral-enriched fibres help regulate temperature and provide a soft initial feel.
- Middle nanocube layer: A polyester casing filled with hundreds of individual viscoelastic open-cell memory foam nanocubes provides adaptable cushioning and support. 💙
- Bottom comfort layer: A soft, durable, and hypoallergenic base.
Unlike some other customisable pillows, like the Emma Original pillow, which features layers of memory foam, the Simba pillow's adjustability comes primarily from its hundreds of individual nanocubes, allowing for a personalised feel.
What exactly are Simba nanocubes?
Simba nanocubes are small, blue cubes of memory foam found within a polyester layer at the core of the Simba pillow.
Each Hybrid pillow contains 640g of these nanocubes.
We show you what these look like in the video below:
The nanocubes are key to customising the pillow's height and firmness for optimal spinal alignment.
What does it feel like to sleep on the Simba Hybrid pillow?
The Simba Hybrid Pillow is designed for custom comfort, with adjustable height and firmness thanks to Simba’s unique nanocube technology.
These small memory foam cubes allow you to fine-tune the pillow to best suit your sleep position and comfort preferences. 🤩

Unlike traditional solid memory foam pillows, the Simba Hybrid feels soft, cushiony, and flexible - more like a down pillow, but with added support.
Firmness and feel
We’d describe the Simba Hybrid as a medium-firm pillow.
It’s softer and squishier than solid memory foam but not as cloud-like as feather or down pillows.
The loose foam fill gently wraps around the head and neck, delivering plush comfort while maintaining enough support for spinal alignment.

However, the cubes can shift slightly overnight, which might affect the feel and firmness by morning.
If you prefer a pillow with more consistent structure and deep contouring, take a look at traditional memory foam options like the Emma pillow or the Panda pillow.
Adjusting the Simba Pillow for your sleep position
The included nanocubes can be added or removed to customise your Simba pillow based on how you sleep.
Simba even includes a handy bag to store any cubes you remove. 🎉

Here’s a general guide:
- Side sleepers need a higher fill to support the neck and keep the spine aligned
- Back sleepers will be most comfortable with a medium fill
- Front sleepers should aim for a flatter pillow to avoid neck strain
Look at the below visual demonstration:
The firmness will also change - here are Simba’s own recommendations:
- Firm: 640 g (full fill)
- Medium: 520 g (remove 4–6 handfuls)
- Low: 450 g (remove 8–10 handfuls)
It may take a little experimentation to get the balance just right, but once you do, the Simba Hybrid Pillow offers a versatile mix of comfort, support, and adjustability.
Does the Simba pillow sleep hot?
Many memory foam pillows are known for trapping heat, but the Simba Hybrid Pillow is designed to do the opposite.
Thanks to its Stratos-powered cover, breathable cotton, and cooling mesh, this hybrid cooling pillow is ideal for hot sleepers. ❄️
Stratos technology: How it keeps you cool
The top half of the Simba Hybrid pillow cover features Stratos fabric, Simba’s signature temperature-regulating technology.

Originally developed for astronaut suits, Stratos works by responding to your body’s temperature in real time:
- When your skin gets too warm, it absorbs excess heat and stores it.
- As you cool down, it releases that heat back, helping maintain a consistent sleep climate.
- This active thermoregulation prevents overheating and keeps the surface cool to the touch.
In our Simba pillow review, the Stratos cover stayed noticeably cooler than standard cotton, even after several hours of use.
This makes the Simba Hybrid one of the best pillows for hot sleepers, especially during warmer months.
Dual-sided design for airflow and comfort
The bottom half of the cover is made from naturally breathable cotton, ethically sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative [1] (BCI). 🌱

Between the two sides is a mesh border that:
- Boosts airflow inside the pillow
- Helps the nanocubes stay cooler for longer
- Adds a sleek design contrast
Together, these layers create a breathable, temperature-regulating pillow that adapts to your needs. and not just the room conditions.
One design drawback though:
While the cooling performance is impressive, the design isn’t invisible.
The blue and grey borders are visible through white pillowcases, something we definitely noticed during our review.
If you prefer a crisp, all-white bed aesthetic, this might be a downside to keep in mind.
Simba Hybrid pillow price & discounts
The Simba Hybrid Pillow sits at the higher end of the pillow market, but it offers excellent value for its build quality, adjustability, and cooling features.
While it’s not the cheapest option, we believe it’s worth the investment, especially for hot sleepers or anyone wanting custom comfort.
You can purchase the pillow directly from Simba Sleep UK, which we recommend to ensure access to Simba’s trial period, warranty, and return policy. 👌
It's also sometimes available via Amazon or Argos, though prices may vary.
Are there any Simba pillow discounts?
Simba pillow sales are rare, but there are still ways to save:
- Simba often runs sitewide promotions (e.g. discounts on orders over a certain amount)
- You can sometimes bundle a pillow with a mattress to unlock a multi-item discount
Keep an eye on our Simba discounts page for live promo codes and seasonal offers.
Simba Hybrid pillow UK delivery & trial conditions
The Simba Hybrid Pillow is delivered free of charge to most UK addresses within 2 to 5 working days. 📦
Orders are fulfilled by DPD Local, with delivery windows between 8 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
The pillow arrives neatly packed in a box, similar to a bed-in-a-box mattress.
It may look slightly compressed at first - simply give it around 5 to 6 hours for the nanocubes to fully expand before sleeping on it.
You may notice a mild off-gassing smell when unboxing - this is a common occurrence with foam products and should fade after a few hours of airing.
What is the Simba pillow trial and return policy?
Unlike Simba mattresses, the Simba Hybrid Pillow doesn’t come with a 200-night trial, but there is now a 30-night trial period for all Simba bedding, including pillows.
If the pillow isn’t quite right, you can return it within 30 nights for a full refund, as long as it's in good condition and in the original packaging.
To initiate a return, simply fill out Simba’s return request form on their website.
Please note: any original delivery charges aren’t refunded, but return shipping is free of charge.
Is the Simba Hybrid pillow UK worth it?
The Simba Hybrid Pillow is a premium option that delivers on both comfort and innovation. 💰
It’s fully customisable, stays cool throughout the night, and offers a soft, down-like feel with the benefits of memory foam.
If you're after a cooling pillow with adjustable support, it’s well worth considering.
That said, if you prefer a more traditional memory foam feel, the Emma Pillow or Panda Pillow might be a better fit.
It's also worth looking at the Simba Hybrid Firm pillow, which will give you the same luxurious feel as the original Simba Hybrid pillow but with an extra-firm feel.
